Position Overview

Candidates for this role will join an existing team of professional engineers installing and servicing fire detection and alarm systems and emergency lighting systems.

Successful applicants will, after appropriate training, undertake a mix of functions including some of those listed below:

  • Attending customer sites to survey, install, and service their systems;
  • Troubleshoot and trace faults;
  • Being available on-call to attend emergency call-outs;
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, proposals and quotations for any works required to bring systems up to standard; and
  • Liaising with customers as required to provide a smooth and truly first-class service.

Required Skills & Experience

Essential to the role is an extensive knowledge of fire detection and alarm systems and emergency lighting systems. This should be abundantly demonstrated in the candidate's CV, including their career history.

This extensive practical knowledge should be further reinforced by an excellent working knowledge of BS 5839-1:2002 and BS 5266.

Candidates must be confident in dealing with all levels of customers.

Computer literacy and familiarity with a variety of control panel programming software is desirable.

Education & Qualifications

Desirable qualifications include some or all of the following:

  • Applicable trade qualifications offered by BAFE, the FIA (formerly the BFPSA), NICEIC, etc.
  • Systems manufacturers' training and qualifications
  • City & Guilds 236 pt 1 and 2 in Electrical Installation and maintenance (or equivalent)

As there is a degree of paperwork to the performance of the job, successful candidates must be able to demonstrate an appropriate level of numeracy. Additionally, due to the customer-facing nature of the job, an appropriate level of literacy is also essential and should again be evident in the candidate's presentation.

Successful Applicants' must possess a current full valid UK driving licence. Ideally, this should also be clean.

Training & Career Development

Training and further accreditation will take place as appropriate, dependant upon the candidate's current abilities, qualifications, etc.

Remuneration & Holidays

The package offered is amongst the best in the trade for successful engineers.

The package is formed by a basic salary that is supplemented by commission. Successful candidates should relish the opportunities of such a salary structure.

Holiday entitlement starts at 20 days per annum and increases to 30 days with length of service. Holiday entitlement is in addition to Bank Holidays.

A fully funded company van is provided.
